The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
+ Frame: High-upside, 6-foot-3, 165 pound frame. Athletic, has upside as left-side infielder, 7.00 60 w 26.1" vertical leap.
+ Delivery/Arm Action: Shorter, athletic lift followed by slight drop&drive. Lands square, tends to spin off, should clean up w strength. Loose, full-circle arm works w abv avg arm speed to 3/4 slot w below-moderate length to the path.
+ Stuff: 83-86 FB w arm-side life spun between 22-2400. Sharp slider is best pitch w wipeout upside - plays at 70-72 w big sweep, minimal vert, and 24-2600 spin. Change is an abv avg pitch playing w fade at 73-74 w 1785 avg rpm. Showed abv avg control of OS & avg control of FB.
+ Summation: My first evaluation on Herr as a P was a great look & I am super bullish on the projectable righty out of Fort Wayne coming out of this event. The frame has tons of room to pack on strength that should play the velocities into the 90+ range at some point, while likely cleaning up the occasional directional issues that led to fastball misses arm-side. There is a chance for two future-plus off-speed offerings & the frame + athleticism leave starters' tabs open. Herr is a priority follow w a chance to polish into a higher-end arm.
