The No. 1 ranked arm in the class, RHP Cole Cheatham (Union County) brought a loud look to the All-State with a 92-94 mph heavy fastball that plays with ride (18.6" IVB, 2308 avg rpm). There is a sinker developing at 89-91, along with developing 86-90 change, and a cutter at 81-83 w sharp side-to-side break. His best pitch on this day was his low-80s CB that works top-down w occasional bite. The pure velocities for the age are well-advanced, as is the massive, 6-foot-3, 235 pound frame, and he took the hill at this event still only 15 years old. There is effort present with fringy control, but the makeup is really solid here & a trait to bet on. Cheatham has a chance to polish into one of the premier arms in the 2027 class nationally w some of the best raw arm strength already present.

Uncommitted. Cheatham was very impressive in his outing for Canes Midwest on Thursday, touching 91 early before settling in the upper 80’s later in his outing. Lived in the zone and attacked hitters early with 4 pitches, mainly relying on his fastball and slider. In doing so, Cheatham was able to work very efficiently through his outing as he cruised to a complete game, 14 strikeout appearance. Was definitely one of the more exciting and dominant outings from any pitcher this week, and he should only continue to improve as he builds onto his 6’3” 180 lbs frame. The #2 RHP in Indiana is a high follow.
