Oklahoma State commit, currently ranked No. 3 in the state of Indiana and No. 101 nationally. 5-foot-11, 186-pound frame, wide shoulders with proportionate strength throughout. Started at short and hit out of the leadoff spot, finishing the day 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. The right-handed hitter showed clear confidence in the box throughout all his at-bats, seeing the ball deep with confident takes while also controlling the barrel with strong hands, took a mid-90s fastball in his first at-bat the other way for a loud lineout to first, and later in a big spot took a pitch on the outer half the other way for a two RBI single to tie the game. Athletic actions at short with soft hands and fluid feet, plays in sync with each other with timing and clear feel for the position, arm played with a quick release and accuracy across, good instincts for the position. Bowen is a performer and a gamer that has been garnering draft buzz, and he’ll be one to continue to follow throughout the spring.
+ The No. 1 ranked shortstop in the class, Oklahoma State recruit and Hanover Central product Dylan Bowen, only participated in batting practice on this day - but he still shined nonetheless. Bowen showed a super low ease of operation with balls still coming off the bat in the low-100s. The swing, mechanically, is pretty similiar to what I've seen of him in the past, but the hands do seem to be staying closer to the body throughout the loading process with a lower launch position than previously seen which should help him to get on-plane earlier.
Dylan Bowen, Hanover Central High School (IN), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-0, 160.9-pounds. NO
Hit: RHH
Power: 99 max exit velocity, averaged 78.7 mph. 314' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-93 mph.
ATH: 6.66 runner in the 60.
Bowen stole the show as the top position player in attendance. The highly-touted uncommitted shortstop has added strength to an uber-athletic, 6-foot, 185 pound frame over this offseason, nearly 25 pounds since his appearance at the 2023 Future Games, and still turned in a 6.66 60 yard dash. Bowen has dynamic capabilities in every facet of his game, and his arm strength has also increased, touching 93 mph across the infield. Dylan put together one of the best batting practice rounds of the day, as well, peppering the back wall with backspun liners and his best ball left the bat at 99.3 mph. Bowen holds five tool upside, a dynamic shortstop with real foot speed, plus arm strength, and a direct, accurate barrel. He will, undoubtedly, be one of the most prized recruits in the country come August 1st.
