+ SS Grady Harrell, Penn: Leaner, athletic, 5-foot-11, 165-pounder. Runs well, as low as 6.65 in showcase, did not get a run time in my look. In pregame BP, he showed consistent barrel feel and fringy raw power. In game, Harrell had three hits in my look, all against average to better velocity. His body is quiet throughout the operation as the bat lays relaxed in setup and his hands pull the barrel to upright position right before launch. Handsy, level swing and he can use the whole field if needed. Offensive profile fits more the catalyst-type. Playing 3B for the Kingsmen this spring; is more likely to play the middle at the next level. Shows sound all-around actions with quick feet and quiet, soft actions with the glove. The arm is fringy from a strength perspective, but did show accurate in my look, and he can use multiple slots.
Grady Harrell, Penn High School (IN), 2027
Positional Profile: SS/OF
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Tall balanced stance, leg kick into coil, strong stride, active hands into short takeaway, slight uphill on -plane swing, two hand finish around shoulder.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 74.3 mph. 230' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-82 mph. Quick first step, controlled footwork, continuous movement, compact arm, long arm, high 3/4 arm angle.
ATH: 6.91 runner in the 60. 1.74 and 3.90 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
Vizual Edge: 80.41 Edge Score
Athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame with lean strength. Put together the best batting practice round of the day, showing improved barrel strength from previous looks. Super consistent round with a peak exit velocity of 94.8 mph, averaging 88.5. Starts slightly open with a short leg-kick stride, working a flatter path that stayed pull-side throughout BP. Ran a 6.82 in the 60 and showed an 83 mph arm across the diamond. Fundamental on the dirt with steady hands and clean footwork.
6.65 foot speed is best present day trait. Shows fundamental actions on the dirt with soft hands and developoing arm strength. Offensively, contact-oriented from the left-side with developing barrel strength. Skill over twitch, but the speed paired with the left-handed bat builds intrigue as strength is added.
Lean, twitchy 5-foot-11, 155-pound shortstop with soft hands and quick feet. Harrell hits from the left side with an open stance, sitting on his back leg and landing soft on the front foot in a short stride. His swing works with ease, matching plane with a smooth, low-intent stroke that posted an 84 mph max exit velocity (80.0 avg) and 292’ peak. Defensively, Harrell plays with bounce and athleticism, showing soft hands and fluid footwork, while the arm (78 mph) plays from a rigid OTT slot. A 6.86 runner with a 24” vertical, his athletic tools give him real upside as he adds strength
'27 SS Grady Harrell (Penn) was my favorite underclassmen in attendance. Despite being one of the younger players on the field, Harrell began the day by burning an event-best 6.89 60-yard dash. The 5-foot-10, 155 pounder has made very solid gains since our last look (Preseason All-State in March) with still plenty of growth to be had in a frame that is still immature, and he cut his 60-time down by 0.4 seconds since March. Setting up in a a balanced stance in the left-handed batter's box, Harrell makes a small weight shift into his back leg as he lifts his hands to a launch position, turning the barrel on a level plane with some whip to contact. Defensively, the feet are the carrying attribute and they couple with sure-handed glove actions. Harrell's growth in a short time window will see him rise up the '27 rankings in our next update, coming in just a few short weeks.

Positional Profile: SS/OF
Body: 5-9, 140-pounds. Lean build
Hit: LHH. Starts in a wide, balanced stance. Shifts weight into the back leg during a controlled toe tap - hands are preset and quiet prior to launch. Barrel stays connected and works on-plane. Line drive approach. Very good actions in the box for the class. Should mature into more bat strength.
Power: 79 max exit velocity, averaged 72.2 mph. 280' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-69 mph. OF-78 mph. Short arm action from a H 3/4 slot.
Defense: (SS) - Fluid footwork - feet work on-time with the catch. Glove actions are soft and allow for a quick transfer. Shows good body control for age. Actions are playable & should translate to gameplay. (OF) - Athletic approach - plays through the baseball. Hands are soft, working out front. Exchanges quickly.
ATH: 7.40 runner in the 60. 1.78 in the 10 yard split.
