‘27 RHP John Knight (Chesterton) tossed a well-executed bullpen during the pitching portion. The lean, athletic 6-foot, 160-pound right-hander showed a clean delivery with plenty of room to add strength. Knight worked with pace to a tall balance point and an inward turn before an athletic move down the slope. The arm action is loose to a ¾ slot, and he showed three solid offerings. The fastball sat 82–84 mph with occasional arm-side run. His best secondary was a sweeping 72–74 mph slider (-16.8" HM) that spun in the 2400+ RPM range. He also flashed a solid 80–81 mph changeup with fading action. The delivery, strike-throwing ability, and feel for spin stood-out most for the young right-hander.
2/23/25
John Knight is a 2027 RHP/3B with a lean, athletic 6-foot, 160-pound frame and two-way intrigue. On the mound, Knight features an athletic, paced delivery with a repeatable move down the slope and a loose, slingy arm from a low ¾ slot. His fastball works at 80–83 mph (T83) with occasional arm-side life, and he shows a sharp 72–73 mph slider with high spin rates (T2539) that plays with sharp hop and sweep — a separator pitch in his arsenal. The changeup at 73–77 mph shows feel and arm-side action. At the plate, the right-handed hitter stands out with a unique pre-pitch waggle and a controlled, linear move to contact. Knight’s swing is efficient and repeatable, producing loud metrics — including a 91 mph max exit velocity and consistent hard contact (88.0 avg EV). His infield actions are fundamental, with an 80 mph arm across the diamond, and his athletic testing (23.4" vertical, 1.68 10-yard split) suggests physical gains are coming.
