I saw a bit of Russell on the circuit last summer, and almost didn't recognize him as he brought a much-more physical, 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame to this event. It is a high-waisted frame that still projects for more strength, but I was very encourged to see him turn in a 6.87 60-yard dash despite the strength he added this offseason. Offensively, he showed a short, simple, repeatable swing that worked with a loose-wristed, flicky delivery out-front. Best swings were struck in the air from gap-to-gap, reached a peak exit of 95 mph, and was second at the event in average exit velocity (87 mph EV avg). Defensively, the actions are crisp with on-time feet and sure hands. The arm path has some length and he showed average strength for the age, reaching 82 across. I am excited to see how he trends from here, but for now he looks the part of a strong follow in the class.
