Stocky and strong, uncommitted senior catcher has aggressive swing from the right side with bat speed. 6-foot, 190 pounder uses big movements to load, maintains rhythm and balance to foot strike. Big weight load onto back side, back knees stays inside foot, keeping weight in strong position to work through the swing. Small dive to close with the front foot, fights front side to get hands and hips through swing at times. Hands and barrel load in strong position, work uphill through extension to lift baseball. Pull side pop. Behind the plate, catch and throw guy with strong arm and carry. One hand catch with clean transfer of baseball, feet work good direction, at times travelling too far to get rid of baseball, quicker to release. Works aggressive to throw, head snap to left at release, pulls baseball away from target at times. Pop times were 1.94-2.01, consistently. Top 65 player in 2018 class with arm strength and bat speed.
2/19/17: Strong frame at 6-foot, 195 pounds. Offensively, hits from an open/athletic setup, smooth load with a slight wrap, leg kick timing trigger. Good use of his lower half, fair balance. Possesses some bat speed from a long, uphill swing path. Showcased the ability to drive the left-center gap. High exit velocity of 89 mph. Aggressive hacks during his BP round. Behind the plate registered pop times of 1.93-2.01. Throws from a high ¾ slot, topped out at 80 mph. Quick, Clean transfer. Average hands while receiving. Lacks hip flexibility.
