Hit: Began in an open stance with a slow load, then used a controlled stride to start his swing. Efficient bat speed. High finish, upward swing.
Power: 82 mph exit velocity. pull side approach.
Defense: Infield, Soft sure hands, athletic smooth footwork, natural exchange. Projectable.
Arm: 77 Infield velocity. Loose arm action, low ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.
Speed: 7.56
Pitching: Above average. Tall-and-fall delivery, some effort. ¾ arm angle, quick arm speed, compact arm action. Athletic balance point, even shoulders, lands square, an athletic finish.
FB: T84. 82-84 mph. Tight action, heavy movement, in the zone accuracy.
CB: 69-70 mph. Sinking action, in the zone command, 12/6 movement.
CH: 75-76 mph. Tailing action, arm side control, sharp movement.
Nick Kallen: RHP/SS, (2023) Chesterton, IN. 5-foot-11, 145-pound lean frame. In the box, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 79 mph. Started in a crouched open stance with a smooth load. Ended his swing with level finish. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 84 mph; had a fluid exchange and Soft Consistent hands. Laterally, his movements were athletic. Showed a high ¾ slot and a short arm action. Clocked a time of 7.28 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, throws from a ¾ angle. Slow temp type pitcher and uses some effort. Showed a consistent balance point. Shows Upright finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 80-82 mph. He shows tailing action on his changeup (74-76). He shows sweeping action on his curveball (68-71).
5-foot-9, 130-pounds, thin built RHP throws from a mid ¾ slot and a medium arm action. Delivery is slow yet balanced, body is still maturing. Fastball sat 76-78, CB was 65-66 with short 11/5 shape, and CH was 70-73 with some sink. Nick recorded an exit velocity of 73 mph using a long stride to separate. Balance at the end of his swing will improve with added strength. Was light on his feet defensively and had a solid release and low ¾ arm action. Nick threw 76 mph across the diamond.
