Pierce Herrenbruck, RHP, Francis Joseph Reitz (IN), 2023
One of the top uncommitted arms across the JUCO Wire. Herrenbruck is a high-ceiling and athletic right-hander that returns at the top of the Rend Lake staff after a standout freshman year. Standing at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds with room for 10-15 pounds in his frame. Uber athlete with feel to repeat and electric arm talent. Advanced feel for four-pitches that can all be used to get opposing hitters out, throwing them all for strikes. The fastball sat 92-94 mph with seemingly more left in the tank, while averaging 17.3 inches of IVB from a 5.9 release height. The curveball stands out among his secondaries as a true swing/miss option, thrown hard up to 82 mph averaging -9.8 inches of IVB and -10.9 inches of sweep. The slider was thrown in the mid-80s and is another potential swing/miss pitch, rounding off his arsenal Herrenbruck showed a developing splitter in the low-80s. Herrenbruck is a high-ceiling arm in Southern Illinois that should garner attention from both high-level division 1 programs and professional teams.
