Askew

Askew is an athletic 5-foot-9 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and shortstop in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.37 home to first and had an 80 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, open stance with load in hands, lands slightly closed, accelerates hands to contact and through the ball, gap to gap approach, high finish.  In the outfield, aggressive to the ball with footwork, quick transfer and throw, over the top arm slot, loose arm action, plays through the ball, 84 mph positional velocity. On the infield,  short high three quarters arm slot, quick to the ball with footwork, plays through the ball with quick transfer and throw, 81 mph positional velocity.

2/16/19 – Askew is an athletic 5-foot-9, 165-pound, right-handed hitting middle infield and right-handed pitching prospect in Kansas’ 2021 class out of Topeka Seaman HS. He ran a 7.52 60 and posted and exit velocity of 86 mph. During hitting evaluations, Askew shows rhythm with hands, barrel control, gets the most out of his strong frame with a big swing, gets extension and hard contact with middle to pull side pop. Defensively, Askew shows good actions, momentum towards first base, clean three-quarter arm action, strong arm with a positional velo of 82 mph, very accurate throws. On the mound, Askew has a simple delivery with regular effort, slightly crossfire with stride, accelerates down the mound, quick arm action with a high three quarter release, fastball is sneaky quick, 80-83 mph, cut action, thrown for strikes, changeup is 79-80 mph, down in the zone, curveball is 68-70 mph, 11-to-5 shape.
