A power arm with good feel and a four pitch mix, the 6-foot-2, 210 pounder will compete for spot in the Patriots' weekend rotation. He can run his fastball up to 95 while mixing in a curve, slider and changeup. Last spring for the Reivers, Mackay posted a 7-1 record with a 1.85 ERA in 43.2 innings. He also struck out 64 batters for an average of 13.19 strikeouts per nine innings while allowing just 18 walks.
