Mason Turney: SS/2B, (2021) Eisenhower, KS. 5-foot-8, 155-pound slim frame. During batting practice, Turney clocked an exit velocity of 88 mph. Starts in a tall stance with a small load, then uses a small leg kick before his swing. Bat speed was quick, showed short swing plane and level finish. Barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Pull side approach. Solid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 77 mph; had a clean exchange, soft hands and consistent footwork. Used an-over-the-top slot with a short arm action. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.77.
6/5/18 - Turney is a 5-foot-8 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 6.94 60 and a 4.37 home to first. He has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, no wasted movement in load, in line stride, hands control the bat with level path, body stays under control, quick hands, middle to pull side contact. On the infield, 71 mph positional velocity, aggressive to the ball, maintains momentum through the catch, clean exchange, quick feet, high three quarters arm slot, mostly accurate throws.
