Matthew Hornbeck: OF/OF, (2021) St. James Academy, KS. 5-foot-11, 175-pound lean frame. During batting practice, Hornbeck recorded an exit velocity of 84 mph. Started in an athletic stance with a tight load, then used a controlled stride to start his swing. Had above average bat speed, level swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found some barrels through his round. Gap to gap approach. Fluid from the outfield, he showed the ability to throw at velocities up to 75 mph; showed fluid feet, a clean exchange and sure hands. Had a long arm action and a high ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.03.

At the event he ran a 7.25 second 60 yard dash, 4.52 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 75 mph. At the plate, starts in an athletic stance, high hand position, simple load, in line stride, showed contact to all fields during batting practice. Defensively, Hornbeck is aggressive to the baseball, long clean arm action, clean transfers, momentum towards the target, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 68 mph, fairly accurate throws.
