Ponce

Ponce is a 5-foot-8 140-pound left-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 7.06 60 and a 4.45 home to first. He had an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts loaded in back side, controlled leg lift with slight hand load, in line stride, level bat path, solid middle of the field line drives during hitting evals.  On the infield, quick catch and throw, high three quarters arm slot, clean transfer, aggressive to the ball with footwork, mostly accurate throws, 80 mph positional velocity.

2/16/18 - Ponce is a 5-foot-7 135-pound left-handed hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.16 home to first and has a 74 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, loads with weight shift to back side, hands control the bat, loose whip and level path, middle to pull side contact.  On the infield, 74 mph positional velocity, three quarters arm slot, quick catch and throw, fields ball in athletic position, clean transfers, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Ponce has a high three quarters arms lot, rotates at balance point, accelerates and works in line down the mound, athletic delivery, fastball works 79-81 mph, has late life with running action, has command, breaking ball has 10-to-4 sweeping action, late break, sometimes sharp, 68-69 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, late running action, 66-68 mph, has feel and command for change up.

6/20/17 - Ponce is a 5-foot-6 130-pound left-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.00 60 and a 4.28 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced set up, loads with slight dip in back leg, in line stride, aggressive and loose hands, level bat path, contact to middle and pull side of the field. On the infield, 76 mph positional velo, three quarters release, momentum after the catch, fluid footwork with clean glove to hand transfer, mostly accurate throws, most with carry.

1/28/17 - Ponce is a 5-foot-6 130-pound left-handed hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.30 60 laser timed and a 4.31 home to first, top LHH time for the event. At the plate, starts loaded in back side, some load, toe tap, level path, middle to opposite field line drives, level path, balanced during swing.  On the infield, 65 mph positional velo, quick catch and throw, long arm circle, three quarters release, clean exchange. On the mound, Ponce comes from a lower slot at a three quarters release, tuck and coil at balance point, hides ball well, repeats and throws strikes, fastball has some arm side run 70-73 mph, a change up at 57-59 mph, some flashing sink.
