Cape Cod: Tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with one strikeout against Cotuit on July 20. The 6-foot-2, 200 pound right-hander showed plus control of an effective mix of a cutting 89-91 mph fastball and fringe-grade curveball at 76-77. He finished the regular season with a 2.16 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 25 innings.
Louisville recruit. Grundy was brilliant in his outing, and his continued progress was evident having seen him almost exactly a year ago. Barrel-chested with some strength present throughout his strong, 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame, he is a bulldog on the mound, and attacks the bottom of the strike zone with his fastball, which sat mostly 85-87 with riding life through the zone. He showed feel for moving the fastball in and out, and occasionally elevating when necessary. Grundy delivers out of a high ¾ slot with a fast arm that is quick out front. He seemed to get better as the game went along, and his 70-72 breaking ball was a weapon throughout. It was fun to watch Grundy play with the breaking pitch as sometimes it showed more depth than others, and the fact that he was able to produce tight spin bodes well for the direction that the pitch will take in the future. There’s a lot to like about the athletic right-hander, who also showed the ability to swing the bat, and the more that he gets on the mound in the future, the quicker he will make adjustments and get better.
6-foot-1, and 170-pound. Grundy was impressive with his performance on the mound at TPG. Works at a quick pace with a smooth, rhythmic delivery that requires moderate effort. Offers above average stuff for his age. Fastball works out of a high-¾ slot at 83-86 MPH on a downhill plane. Pairs the fastball with a sharp 11/5 breaking ball that has swing and miss quality at 66-70 MPH. Grundy also showed solid feel for the changeup, thrown at near fastball arm speed that pitch has some sink at 67-68 MPH. Although future looks to be on the mound he also had a strong performance as a position guy. A versatile defender that worked out in both the outfield and infield. It should come as no surprise that arm is a huge tool at both. At the plate he has obvious strength with above average bat speed. Drove the ball well in BP, showing gap abilities.

A talented two-way prospect in the 2021 class. Abilities on the mound are far advanced for his age. Arm really works with impressive arm speed. His traditional slot is high-¾ but will drop down to ¾ at times. Fastball jumps out of the hand at 81-83 mph. Breaking ball was 69-71 mph on an 11/5 plane. The offering was sharp and he threw it for strike consistently. Stuff and pitchability were hard to believe for a kid his age. The stuff was electric and he threw any pitch he wanted, wherever he wanted. In the infield he gets good reactions off the bat and has a very quick first step. Moves well laterally and glove skills stay on the move. Arm works across the infield with the ability to throw from different arm angles.
