Spring 2017 - Bowen has made a recent jump in velocity with a fastball in the high-80's. HIs projectable 6foot-4, 180 pound frame bodes well for continued velocity development at the next level.-

6-foot-4, 180-pound RHH with significant room to add to projectable frame, hits from a balanced stance, short stride, shows quickness in hands, slight stiffness in lower half, creates some lift with swing path with flashes of power, went 1-for-3 in game play with an infield single. Shows some athleticism in the outfield in working through the baseball, made very accurate throws to the third base bag from a ¾ release, good arm strength with carry, interesting prospect, especially on the mound.

As a pitcher, offers good upside and projectability with an ideal pitcher’s frame, works through a ¾ arm slot with long arm action, fastball showed effective arm-side run with occasional sink, was able to throw his curveball for strikes with shorter and late 11/5 action, shows confidence in changeup with similar action as the fastball, pitched two hitless innings while issuing one walk, recorded three swinging strikeouts in his outing (one each with fastball, curveball, and changeup). Bowen’s frame coupled with his current velocity and pitchability make him a very intriguing prospect.
