6-foot-1, 180 pound RHP. Athletic frame with room to add. Long arm action works through a high 3/4 slot. Quick arm, loose out front. Occasional arm-side run on 81-84 mph fastball that touched 85. Max fastball spin rate 2198 rpm. Shows feel for curveball with 11/5 shape and tight spin. High spin rates with max of 2385. Curveball produced some swing and miss. Stuck with fastball/curveball mix showing ability to throw both for strikes. Currently one of the top arms in the 2023 class with upside.
6-foot-1, 180-pound. At the plate, Hood's best exit velocity was 82 mph. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 82 mph. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.55. On the mound, where he showed above average arm speed, also used a high ¾ arm angle and a long arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses some effort. Produced a fastball that came in at 81-82 mph; showed control in the zone with straight movement. His 11/5 curveball (67-69) has tight action and around the zone command. He shows low in the zone accuracy on his changeup (68-72).
