Hit: (LHH) Solid. Starts in a balanced wide stance with a wrapping load, then uses a toe tap stride. Average bat speed. Level finish, loose swing. Gap to gap approach.
Power: 89 mph exit velocity, average 86.55 mph. 68.44 mph bat speed average. 23.67 mph hand speed average.
Defense: (IF) Sure hands, average footwork, packing exchange. Solid. (OF) Sure hands, consistent footwork, packing exchange. Solid. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were average.
Arm: 79 mph infield velocity. 80 mph outfield velocity. Loose arm action, ¾ slot.
Speed: 7.01 (60-yard).
5-foot-10, 156-pound lean frame. Above average at the plate, Welch clocked an exit velocity of 85 mph. Started in an open stance with a compact load, then used a short stride. Bat speed was above average, used long swing plane and high finish. Barreled up a few balls during his round. Gap to gap approach.
