Derek Babineau Jr: OF/RHP, (2025) Calvary Chapel Academy, MA. 155-pound lean build. Projectable in the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 88 mph. Began in a narrow closed stance with a controlled load, then used a small stride. Bat speed is developing, uses a flat simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Projectable from the outfield, he showed the ability to throw at velocities up to 83 mph; has developing hands, developing consistent feet, and a natural exchange. Fielded the ball out front with developing movement laterally. Showed a consistent arm action and a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.94. Projectable on the mound, used a ¾ arm angle with a consistent arm action while showing developing arm speed. Feel type pitcher who uses some effort. In his delivery his balance point is tall with in line shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Curveball (63-64 mph). Bat speed is developing, displays a simple short swing plane and good extension on his finish. He produced loud contact and found multiple barrels. Up the middle aggressive approach. Projectable athletic in the infield, displayed a velocity of 81 mph; had a clean natural exchange, soft sure hands, and athletic, developing footwork. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Used a quick arm action with a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.11. Projectable and athletic on the mound, showed developing arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a loose consistent arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher and uses some effort. Showed consistent balance point and in line shoulders. Lands closed with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 80-81 mph; showed command arm side around the zone and running sinking action. (Max spin 1700; Avg 1634). Throws a 12/6 curveball (66-68) with glove side control and sweeping action. (Max spin 2015; Avg 1818). His changeup (75-76) has gradual fading action and arm side command.
