On the mound, showing quick arm speed he used a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Uses easy effort in his delivery. Has a consistent balance point and in line shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 87-88 mph; has sinking action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2246; Avg 2139). Tight 12/6 curveball (70-71). (Max spin 2375; Avg 2367). His changeup (79-80) had fading action.
Jordan Barthel: RHP/3B, (2023) out of Scituate High School, MA, is a physical 6-foot-3, 200-pound infield prospect. At the plate, Barthel recorded an exit velocity of 89 MPH. He hits out of a squatty, balanced stance, with the hands set just off the back shoulder. the swing takes a flat plane and he finishes through contact. In the infield, he recorded a velocity of 83 MPH on his throws. He fields the ball out in front, shows a fluid exchange, rhythmic feet, and soft hands. Using a long ¾ slot, he creates a good line with the target and finishes through the play. He also registered a 60 time of 8.18 seconds at the event. On the mound, Barthel showed a long high ¾ arm slot on a fastball that sat 85-86 MPH with arm-side tilt. He gets to a consistent balance point and works down the mound in a good line. His curveball (67-68 MPH) showed sweeping action and his changeup (73-75) showed soft running action.
