Matthew Oates: LHP/1B, (2025) Weymouth High School, MA. 185-pound solid frame. Projectable during batting practice, the hitter's best exit velocity was 91 mph. (64.8 mph bat speed average). (19.4 mph hand speed average). Setup was comprised of a controlled load and a narrow balanced stance. Bat speed is quick, uses a loose level swing plane and good extension on his finish. Barreled up multiple balls with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Projectable in the infield, displayed a velocity of 82 mph; shows developing soft hands, developing athletic feet, and a natural exchange. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. Projectable on the mound, shows developing arm speed, he had a high ¾ arm angle with a quick consistent arm action. Feel type pitcher and showed some effort. In his delivery his balance point is tall with in line shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. (75.2 mph bat speed average). (21.4 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced wide stance with a high load, then uses a small stride. Has quick bat speed, uphill loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. Was able to create loud contact and found lots of barrels. Aggressive gap to gap approach. Athletic in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 81 mph; has developing consistent feet, a natural exchange, and developing soft hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were  athletic. Used a high ¾ slot with a loose arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Projectable on the mound, using a compact consistent arm action he showed developing quick arm speed from a high ¾ arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher and uses some effort. In line shoulders and a consistent balance point. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 81-82 mph; has running action and command arm side around the zone.
