Mavrick Rizy: RHP/1B, (2024) Worcester Academy, MA. Connecticut Commit, 6-foot-8, 205-pound projectable lean build. Above average and projectable on the mound, showed above average developing arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a long loose arm action. Feel up-tempo type pitcher and showed easy effort. Showed consistent balance point with in line shoulders. Lands closed with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 87-90 mph; showed command glove side around the zone and slight running action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2360; Avg 2035). His 11/5 curveball (68-69) shows sweeping action and glove side occasional command. (Max spin 2015; Avg 2015). Threw a 10/4 slider (76-78) that showed tight, late action and glove side around the zone command. (Max spin 1938; Avg 1847).

Position: RHP/1B

Body: 6-foot-8, 205-pound projectable lean build.

Pitching: Above average and projectable. Feel up-tempo delivery, easy effort. High ¾ arm angle, above average developing arm speed, long loose arm action. Consistent balance point, in line shoulders, lands closed, an athletic finish.

FB: T90. 87-90 mph. (Max spin 2360;  Avg 2035). Glove side around the zone accuracy, slight running action, heavy movement. 

CB: 68-69 mph. Glove side occasional command, sweeping action, 11/5 shape. (Max spin 2015; Avg 2015). 

SL: 76-78 mph. Glove side around the zone control, tight late action, 10/4 movement. (Max spin 1938; Avg 1847). 

Rizy is a talented, projectable 6-foot-7, 195 pound right-handed pitching prospect. The delivery has gone through a little bit of an alteration. Rizy looks like he has worked to get his release point well out in front, causing his fastball to work downhill and free up his arm. The result is a fastball that sits 84-86 MPH with heavy downward sink. Rizy also mixed in a new, harder breaking ball at 70 MPH that impressed. The spin was tight. The break was late and changed planes from his fastball. Rizy also showed a good change-up at 79-80 MPH with similar action to his fastball. 

Rizy has been a guy that has shown potential. That potential may be starting to kickstart. The mechanical change he’s made has allowed his arm talent to come to the forefront. His velocity has already jumped five MPH since the change. 

6-foot-6, 185-pound right-handed pitcher. The frame is long and lean. He continues to improve his game as he matures in age. The fastball sat 82-83 mph with arm side action and occasionally downhill. The spin pitch is slurvy in action, sitting 64-65 mph. The pitch needs additional fastball hand speed added to it. The changeup is still a developing pitch for him. The delivery has crossfire to the feet and the slot is above 3/4 in height. The lift is methodical in tempo and he repeats it. The tracking of the front shoulder can stay online longer to help aid his extension. The arm is clean and the projection is good. 

6-foot-6, 175-pound right-handed pitcher. The frame keeps growing and he continues to improve and refine his craft. The fastball sat 78-79 mph, downhill with leverage at times. The spin pitch was up to 66 mph, still needs added fastball hand speed to it. The changeup was 71-72 mph and trending in the right direction. The delivery is online with the feet and above 3/4 in slot. The lift and delivery is methodical in tempo and the arm is short on the backside. The direction to the plate is solid, needs to get a hip turn at lift and involve the backside more. The projection is solid and his best days are in front of him. 

6-foot-6, 165-pound, long, thin athletic frame, with plenty of room for added strength and weight gains. A right-handed pitcher, simple, balanced delivery, staying over the backside, working inline with the plate, gets great extension out front on release. The arm action is longer and clean on the backside, working from a higher 3/4 slot, pitches downhill when behind and on time. The fastball shows action to arm side, up to 80 mph, look for a major bump in velocity in the next year. The breaking pitch, has slurve break to it, clocked in at the mid 60's, will need to add more fastball hand speed to this pitch. The changeup showed proper fade and arm side action. Look for big things from this one.

Rizy is a tall, lanky 6-foot-4, 165 pound prospect.  The right-handed hitting first baseman had an exit velocity of 72 mph off the tee. He hits out of a tall, even stance, with the hands set high off the back shoulder.  He gets the weight to the back leg before using a long stride to generate momentum for the swing. The bat-plane is flat to and through the hitting zone, with good extension.

Defensively, he was 64 mph across the diamond at first base.  The feet are deliberate as he moved to get into the fielding position.  The glove is relaxed out front and his hands are soft as he works through the ground ball.  The feet, hips and shoulders get into a good line with the target, with an arm-swing that is out of a lower slot.  

On the mound,  the long limbed right-hander uses a methodical delivery, with a high leg kick to collect himself before heading down the mound.  The arm-swing was clean, allowing the fastball to have late life in the range of 72-74 mph. The breaking ball was a tight pitch that sat 62-64 mph and he showed a change-up at 66-68 mph.

Rizy is a projectable young prospect on the mound.  The 6-foot-4 frame definitely has room to fill out and the arm talent shows now.  He’s a guy to get out and see now.
