Owen Tahnk: RHP/3B, (2023) Newburyport, MA. 6-foot-3, 195-pound lean athletic build. Above average and projectable in the box, Tahnk recorded an exit velocity of 96 mph. (74.7 mph bat speed average). (23.1 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a small load, then uses a small stride. Has developing, quick bat speed, uphill loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up lots of balls with loud contact. Aggressive approach. Projectable athletic in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 75 mph; has soft sure hands, a clean natural exchange, and developing athletic feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were developing. Used a high ¾ slot with a loose arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a 60 time of 7.23 at the event. Projectable above average on the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle and a loose consistent arm action while showing above average developing arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher and uses some effort. Tall balance point with in line shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 84-86 mph; has control arm side around the zone and running action. 6-foot-1, 170-pound, strong, athletic frame. Longer neck, squared off shoulders, with plenty of room for added weight. A right-handed hitting two-way player, at the plate, the swing is short, compact, hands stay inside the baseball with more of a middle to opposite field approach. Creating line drives with loft at times. Sprays the baseball all over, had an exit velocity of 83 mph. Defensively, at first base, shows tremendous foot work on drop steps, glove is soft fielding out front. The arm action is longer and clean, working from a natural, 3/4 slot, clocked at 73 mph across the diamond, all throws on target. Off the mound, pounds the zone with a three pitch mix. The delivery is simple, easy, slower leg kick, hands start and stay at the mid-section. Stays over the backside, direction is inline, gets out front on release. the fastball touched 78 mph, worked it to both sides of the plate. The breaking ball shows proper spin and shape, later depth to it, clocked at 67 mph and the changeup compliments the fastball very well, clocked at 73 mph, chance to be an out pitch. Time will tell which way he goes, solid looking two-way player at this point.

The setup is wide in base, small pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches the hitting zone. The hands work freely to the ball, swing path is long due to lack of strength. The bottom half is under control throughout the swing. On the mound, the fastball sat 73-74 mph, arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is 60-61 mph, big in shape. The changeup is a work in progress. The delivery is online with the feet and 3/4 in slot. The lift is repeated, athletic as he makes his way into foot strike. The glove comes across the hitters face, adding deception to the delivery .
