Mason Merloni: 2B/SS, (2028) Furnace Brook Middle, MA. 120-pound lean build. Projectable during batting practice, Merloni clocked an exit velocity of 76 mph. Began in an open narrow stance with a low handsy load, then used a closed small stride. Bat speed was developing, displayed a level long swing plane and level finish. Created loud contact and found multiple barrels. Line drive approach. Capable while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 72 mph; has developing hands, a clean natural exchange, and developing in control feet. Fielded the ball out front with developing movement laterally. Showed decent accuracy to the base and a ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 8.1. Capable on the mound, showed a consistent arm action and a ¾ arm angle with developing arm speed. Feel type pitcher who uses some effort. Showed consistent balance point and in line shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 70-71 mph; had running sinking action and arm side command. (Max spin 1939; Avg 1823).
