Maryland Preseason All-State Session I
Body: 6’4’’, 215 pounds. Long, Projectable frame with physicality present in the actions.
Hit: RHH. Slightly bent, even stance with the hands starting high above the shoulder. Utilized a short lift and replace stride while landing at a narrow, upright position on the land, entering the hitting zone through a flat path into the hitting zone. Showed loft in the approach (53% fly ball rate) with comfortability using the LCF gap primarily during his batting practice round. Could get handsy at times but demonstrated solid bat to ball skills in the box (68% on-plane efficiency via Blast Motion).
Power: 89 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Developing doubles power with a near 275 foot peak batted ball distance. Created backspin off the bat, but was too steep at times going uphill through the baseball.
Arm: RH. INF - 77 mph. Power high ¾ slot with high-intent on the release and feel for extension out in front.
Defense: Arrived on time from a wide base with the glove hand working out in front and alligator-arming inwards on the funnels. Somewhat stiff glove played with relative consistency and showed the ability to pick it on balls in the dirt during defensive evaluations.
Run: 8.18 60-yard time.
Delivery: Started from the dead center of the rubber with a side rocker step working up towards a medium leg lift, noticeable hip coil in rhythm with an early hand-break to hide the ball behind the hip. Quick move down the mound getting out over the front side into an athletic finish. Repeated the landing position well.
Arm Action: RH. High ¾ slot with no restrictions on a moderate arm circle.
FB: T77 mph, 76-77 mph. Low IVB numbers (15.3 inches of induced vertical break) coupled with 1607 average rpms point to the ability to live low in the zone with success.
CB: 63-65 mph. Average spin rate of 1754 rpm. Big sweeper over the plate with hard horizontal bite (18+ inches of horizontal movement per Trackman).
CH: 72-74 mph.
Maryland Unsigned Senior Games
Body: 6’4’’, 220 pounds. Physical frame with strength.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a slightly crouched, square stance at the plate. Quick hitch load and small stride. Hands work short and compact to the ball with extension through the zone. Stays behind the ball with some lower half involvement. Limited two-handed finish. Middle to pull-side approach.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Showed power back up the middle and to the pull-side alley.
Arm: RH. INF - 75 mph. Throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarter slot.
Defense: Controlled approach and fields the ball out in front from a strong, athletic base. Quick footwork and exchanges.
Run: 8.19 60-yard time.
Delivery: Controlled side-step wind-up with a quick high leg kick into a slightly crouched, compact balance position. Early hand break and long, sweeping kick-out stride down the mound. Lands in-line to the plate over a bent front knee with a complete follow through and athletic finish.
Arm Action: RH. Throws with shorter arm action from a mid three-quarter slot.
FB: T77 mph, 75-77 mph. Occasional arm-side run with an average spin rate of 1843 rpm per TrackMan.
CB: 63-65 mph. Showed both 11/5 and 12/6 shape with an average spin rate of 1778 rpm per TrackMan.
CH: 69-70 mph.
Maryland Top Prospect Games West
Body: 6’3’’, 195 pounds. Strong, projectable frame.
Delivery: Side-step wind-up and quick high leg kick to a tall, compact balance point. Smooth kick-out stride down the mound with strong lower half drive off the rubber. Lands in-line with home plate and gets over the front half with a complete follow through and slightly upright, square finish.
Arm Action: RH. Throws with shorter arm action from a low to mid three-quarter slot with low effort. Deceptive and hides the ball well behind his body.
FB: T78 mph, 75-78 mph. Present arm-side run with an average spin rate of 1787 rpm per TrackMan.
CB: 65-66 mph. Short 11/5 shape with an average spin rate of 1708 rpm per TrackMan.
CH: 68-72 mph. Slight fade action.
