Maryland Top Prospect Games II
Body: 6’3’’, 193 pounds. Projectable, lengthy frame with big time athleticism.
Hit: RHH. Wide, bent stance with the barrel pointed upwards at a 45 degree angle next to the ear at a controlled position. Utilized a repeatable lift and replace stride in order to initiate his swing through a flat path into the hitting zone. Noticeable feel for the barrel using top-notch bat to ball skills and barrel awareness during batting practice. Peppered the ball at head height from gap to gap, flashing a mature approach and natural feel for the hit tool. Generated plenty of loft (80%+ fly ball rate) hinting at continued growth into a power-hitting mold as he matures; actions should allow for quick results.
Power: 95 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Easy power to pull, generating tons of backspin towards the LCF gap. Developing into a notable power threat with home run juice as he keeps adding strength.
Arm: RH. OF - 84 mph. Loose, high ¾ slot with carry towards the plate.
Defense: Hop step in the prep work; got early reads off the bat getting the chest downhill immediately in the routes; used tangible momentum to shorten the throwing distance to the target as well as create positive power transfer into release. Fluid athlete in space and controlled where he wanted to field the ball at, should handle any two of the three outfield positions.
Run: 7.15 60-yard time.
Maryland Preseason All-State Session II
Body: 6’3’’, 193 pounds. Projectable, athletic frame with a build to dream on. Lengthy appearance with obvious size and a presence to him.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, even setup from a wide stance as the hands began high near the head. Utilized a short lift and replace stride initiating the bat head through a flat path with plenty of bat speed through the zone. Notched some off the charts Blast Motion numbers: 24.6 mph average hand speed, 75.3 mph average bat speed, and 60% on-plane efficiency, which point towards a developing, high-level power profile down the line. Featured loft in the approach to the pull side during batting practice and recorded an eye-popping 75% hard hit rate (batted balls over 90 mph). A true middle of the order bat with a short swing that will play in game, there’s a lot to like offensively.
Power: 99 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Home run pop when pitched out over the plate, mainly doubles power.
Arm: RH. OF - 85 mph. Lengthy arm circle with athleticism and whip in the release. Accuracy was present towards the target with repeatability.
Defense: Hop step in the prep work, got the chest downhill and played with active footwork beating the ball to the spot. Picked a good hop and went and got it with a soft glove hand off his left foot, could range to his left extremely well with adequate pace overall during his defensive evaluation.
Run: 7.26 60-yard time.
