Johnny Beer: SS/2B, (2021) Livonia Stevenson, MI. 5-foot-10, 145-pound. Starts in a tall stance with a controlled load, then uses a short stride before his swing. Level swing plane. Found some barrels through his rounds. Up the middle approach. Solid while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 77 mph; showed consistent feet, a natural clean exchange and soft hands. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.44.
Hitting: At the plate sets up with a simple approach getting his body engaged at the plate. Drove the ball well. Line drove hitter that makes solid contact. On the left side shows fast hands and a loose swing Good contact with some pop.
Hitting: Sets up with a crouch using bat motion to gain rhythm. Has a small front leg lift. Contact hitter that makes consistent contact at the plate. On the left side of the plate has a slight crouch with a short compact swing. Hit a few liners to the pull side.
Body Type: 5-foot-9, 135 pound
Swing Mechanics: Has a two hand swing hitting from both sides of the plate. Lowers his hands swinging with slight lift.
Hit: Contact hitter that hits the ball where it is pitched.
Power: 72 mph exit velocity.
Run: 7.62
Field: Agile infielder that moves well laterally. Fields the ball out front.
Throw: 65 mph infield velo
Defensive Projection: 2B
5-foot-6, 118 pound prospect displayed switch hitting ability on the day. On the right side set up with a narrow crouched set up swinging on an uphill path. Seemed more comfortable on the left side using a balanced stance swinging with a level approach that produced line drives. In the field ranged well to his glove side, fields deep takes two steps and throws from a high 3/4 arm angle. In the OF fields off his front left leg going right into his crow hop and 3/4 arm angle.
