He ran a 4.75 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 80 mph. During hitting evaluations, Nichols shows an upright and balanced stance, simple load, quiet hands, minimal head movement and contact to the middle of the field. Defensively, Nichols has over the top arm action, clean transfers, positional velo of 67 mph and mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Nichols shows a quick arm, over the top arm slot, balanced set up, slightly open stride and gains momentum down the mound. His fastball is 70-73 mph, changeup has occasional sink, thrown for strikes at 58-64 mph and curveball is 59-63 mph.
