The left-handed hitter starts in a wider and even stance, with his weight slightly shifted onto his backside. Hands are relaxed, work free and easy. Strong lower half, clears his hips through the zone. Worked both gaps with tons of firm contact. In the outfield, aggressive pursuit of the ball while keeping his momentum towards his target. Top positional velocity of 82 MPH. On the mound, uses a modified windup, setting his feet even to start. Up tempo, high energy delivery. Lands closed off at footstrike. Uphill shoulders down the slope. Strong frontside. FB sat in the 80-83 MPH range, touching 84 MPH. SL had more vertical shape at 75-77 MPH. Straight CH at 75-76 MPH.
Petrick is strong and athletic at 6-foot, 185-pounds. Another lefty who sets up on the third base side of the rubber. In the stretch, starts extremely preset with his weight heavily into his backside. Hands stay high, near his head, until he has reached his balance point. Shorter, quick arm action. High ¾ slot.
