Callanan has an uber-athletic frame at 6-foot, 170-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.90 second with a top exit velocity of 90 MPH. Wide and athletic in his stance, bend in his knees with weight shifted back. Utilizes a slight toe tap, stays on time. Hands start higher and move directly backwards within his load. Smooth weight transfer. Lot of barrels in his round, real comfortable in the box. In the infield showed some twitchy actions, plays through the ball. Efficient footwork, works towards his target. Top positional velocity of 84 MPH. On the mound, Callanan pitched exclusively from the stretch. Starts tall on the first base side with his feet closed off. Hands work in sync with his leg kick. Softer brace leg. Even shoulder tilt down the mound. FB with run and ride in the zone at 84-87 MPH. CB was sharp at times, 2-plane action when located down, sat 70-73 MPH. CH with occasional fade at 77-79 MPH.
Athletic 6-foot 170-pound frame with room to fill out. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.90 seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 90.9 via Trackman at the plate. Offensively - starts in a balanced, crouched stance and slightly open. Uses a weight exchange and hands load up. Level stroke through the zone, two handed finish with backspin line drives. In the field, throws topped at 84 mpg from SS. Prep step, bouncy, athletic start. Fields out front, momentum through throws with some zip to finish. Able to throw from multiple different slots on double play feeds and slow rollers with ease. Pitching- fastball topped at 87 and sat mostly 85-87 in his bullpen. Easy, repeatable mechanics, athletic balance point and finishes with extension. Curveball showed sharp, downer action at 70-72 and changeup showed some armside fade at 78 mph (16" HM avg). Overall, Callanan was one of the top performers at this event and will be a high follow prospect through the spring and early summer.
