Hlinka has a lean, physical build at 6-foot-2. Virginia commit, ranked No. 8 in NJ top 2018. LH bat with power. Starts in a neutral stance with a tall, narrow base. Hands are in line with shoulder to start. Uses a small leg lift and stride to start load, hands load straight back. Compact swing with feel for barrel, easy finish.
6/11/16
Hlinka is a 6-foot-2 180-pound outfielder with a high ceiling. Virginia commit. Gap to gap power with short quick left handed swing. Projects as a corner outfielder at the next level. Gap to gap power. Tripled and singled up the middle this weekend at Diamond Nation tournament. Uses short leg lift and aggressive hips to generate power. Hands are loaded above back ear pre-pitch. Balanced finish, does not get fooled easily. Keeps hands back even when he is out in front of offspeed - able to get barrel on the baseball.
9/26/15 -- Hlinka is long, lean, and projectable (already 6-foot-2, 180 pounds). Hlinka is just an okay runner at this point but made up for it nicely in RF with good reads and a potentially plus throwing arm. He hits from the left side with a smooth stroke that can get long at times. Not yet comfortable with the strike zone, Hlinka has some work to do offensively but he has big projection and the tools to become a high-level prospect.
