6-foot, 170-pound athletic frame. Clocked a time of 7.07 in the 60-yard dash. Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth high load, then uses a long stride to initiate his swing. Bat speed was raw, used upward swing plane and high finish. He barreled up some balls with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Cortez had an exit velocity of 90 mph. In the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 80 mph; had sure hands and athletic footwork. In the infield, recorded a position velocity of 75 mph; showed a quick exchange and fluid footwork. Used a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot.
6-foot, 170-pound lean frame. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.11. In the box, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph. Starts in balanced crouched stance, has a small load and uses a foot stride to start swing. Bat speed is present. Level swing plane and extension on his finish. Line drive approach.
