9/19/2015 – O’Boyle is a stocky, strong 6-foot-2, 200 pound left-hander from Steinert HS. He has solid tempo to his compact delivery and repeats with great efficiency. He pitches from a ¾ to high ¾ arm slot and produces a lively 78-82 mile-per-hour fastball. He showed solid spin on a tight, late breaking ball which sits between 69 and 73 MPH. He also utilizes a 75 MPH straight changeup. O’Boyle pounds the bottom 1/3 of the strike zone and elevates when needed, which does protect the big bender. Although he is not a big strikeout producer, he produces a ton of groundballs and soft contact.
