11/14/18-Lean, 5-foot-8, 125, Metzger is presently long levered with square shoulders. He displays developing infield actions and has solid awareness of exactly what he needs to do to make the play. His comfort release is from a ¾ slot but will employ varying arm angles as the play dictates. He showed signs of a solid internal clock, utilizing a quick exchange to his backhand and footwork on slow rollers. Metzger has some instincts for the infield positions. At the plate, he strides open to close with a leg kick, hitting primarily off his backside with an uphill stroke. Gains can be made with weight transfer and a middle of the field approach. On the mound, Metzger throws from a side arm slot. He has feel for a “frisbie” breaking ball. He also showed a serviceable changeup. His slot relies heavily on the sink from his fastball and changeup which is occasional. His ability to throw with his head in his arm slot will provide more consistency in pitch definition.
