60 Yard Dash: 7.23
Exit Velocity: 87
Positional Arm: 75
Pop-Times: 2.06 - 2.13
Preseason - East (February 22, 2017)
Standing 5-foot-11, 165-pounds showing athleticism evidenced by his 4.28 home-to-first time on lasers. At the plate open stance with hands relaxed by his back shoulder. Back to even on the pitch with a mostly level barrel path with a high finish. 85-mph exit velocity off a tee showing signs of some bat-speed. Defensively, wide back with soft hands, appears relaxed and confident behind the plate. Advanced footwork and release during his throw downs, accurate around the bag with pop-times ranging 2.03-2.06 with 75-mph arm-strength. He also worked out from the OF position showing an 80-mph arm with carry to the target. Nice looking prospect form the Southern-Tier.
Mieczkowski, a 2019 right-handed hitting catcher, stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 150 pounds, ran a 7.36 60. Offensively- Starts with a slightly open base, weight even, hands are outside the back shoulder and barrel of the bat slightly greater than 45-degrees. Gets to the launch phase of the swing with a moderate leg kick, lead knee driving back while the hands are dropped below the shoulder and barrel of the bat gets nearly perpendicular to the ground. Swing was compact getting quality leg drive and rotation. Drove the ball well, line drive approach, from the pull side gap to the opposite field gap. Recorded an exit velocity of 83 MPH on the day. Defensively- Works from a square primary stance, with the glove out and over the left knee. Received the ball with a quiet hand but a bit deep in the zone. On throws to second base, the transfer was delayed due to a premature left foot jab like movement. The throwing arm dropped to the low ¾ arm slot due to the disconnect between the upper and lower half. With a more efficient transfer, throws will show much more carry which would improve the arm velocity of 71 MPH as well as the top pop time of 2.16 shown.
