Baez stands 5-foot-9, 165-pounds with a smaller but athletic build. At the plate he uses a balanced approach, small toe tap on the pitch, back load. Extremely quick hands evidenced by his 85 mph exit velocity off a tee with wood. Path is short to the ball, shoulders get some tilt, barrel slightly inclined through the contact zone, extension out in front, high finish. Next-level bat. From SS he is very sleek, above average hands fielding out in front, funnel is clean, arm action is quick and smooth, shuffles his feet well on longer throws, fast release when he needs it. 85 mph arm from SS, very good athlete, 4.1 home-to-first-time.
