6-foot-1, 190 pounds, thick, durable, can continue getting stronger. Athletic, moves well laterally and in pure straight line runs with a 7.1 sixty-yard dash. Defensively- he shows a good glove at first base with soft hands. Has a plus arm, touching 84 mph on throws across the diamond. Throws from a high ¾ slot and the arm works well. As a first baseman, possesses the quick reactions necessary for the position. Offensively- his swing includes a small stride into the ball out of an even stance. Hands start above the letters before slightly dropping during the load. Minimal pre-pitch movement. The bat path has slight loft in it. Pitching- Off the mound, Shpur starts from the first base side of the rubber, throwing from the same high ¾ slot he does defensively. Gets solid extension, leveraging a strong lower half, and sitting 82-84 mph with his fastball. The curveball is still developing, playing well off his fastball with an 11/5 shape between 69-72 mph. The spin can get tighter to help elevate the pitch and repetition will help further command of the pitch. Profiles best as a pitcher at the next level, though he will need to find a third offering as he continues his development. With good arm strength, further conditioning, and refining his repertoire, Shpur is someone to keep tabs on this fall.
