Came on in relief and showed a simple arm path and competed. Bigger size kid, all arm strength, as there isn't a ton of quickness to the arm but it works.
Spulnick stands a highly projectable 6-foot-3, 180-pounds with a frame to dream on. Offensively, he uses a slightly open stance, hands appear loose with a high-elbow. Stride back to even on the pitch, hands power inside the ball on a short path, barrel stays mostly flat traveling through the strike zone a long time. Long athletic finish. Defensively- great size at the corner with above average athleticism for the position (7.11 60 time), stays behind balls fielding with a clean quick glove, throws with a shorter arm-action. Pitching- uses a balanced delivery, high knee-lift, breaks his hands as his front leg starts to power forward. Arm-action is back and short, releases from a high 3/4 slot with above average arm-speed. Fastball sat 80-81, peaking at 82 with some downward angle. Curveball checked in at 62-64 (needs to utilize his arm-speed on this pitch) with 12/6 shape, more gradual break. Overall, Spulnick holds the tools of an easy next-level prospect. How far he takes his development will depend on his off-season training, but currently there's a lot to like from the Albany area prospect.
