Physical: 6-2, 150 pounds; Long, slight build.
Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with a slight coil away from the plate. Has a moderate stride landing inline with the plate. Moderate arm swing while wrist hooks behind back; low 3/4 slot. Square to the plate with finish. FB: Peak velo of 75 MPH, while sitting 72-75 MPH; straight action. CB: 65-68 MPH; slurve like action.
Stands in with a lean frame at 5-foot-2, 115 pounds. Ran a 9.29 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- the right handed hitter stands in the box with feet shoulder width apart. Throws his hands into the hitting zone. Gets good use of the lower half. Top exit velocity was 58 MPH. Defensively- the infielder displayed active footwork. Gets rid of the ball quickly. An aggressive approach to the baseball. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity from the infield position was 56 MPH. Pitching- the right handed pitcher displayed a repeatable delivery. Gets into a strong backside before working downhill. Showed good command of the FB which peaked at 63 MPH and feel for a CH 55-57 MPH.
Johnson stands at 4-foot-10, 85 pounds. Ran home to first in 5.36. Offensively- Righty with wide, slightly opened stance. Hands held close to ear height, barrel to the sky. Small stride to engage, flat swing plane through the zone. Exit velocity 57 MPH. A more aggressive lower half will help with zone acceleration. Defensively- Wide base to field the ball, occasionally flat footed. Slight foot shuffle prior to release at a high 3/4- arm slot. Will need to work on distinguishing difference between OF and INF approaches. 52 MPH arm strength from the outfield was his peak arm strength.
