ENY Prospect Preview (August 2, 2016)
Romaguera stands 5-foot-11; 145 pounds with a lean, athletic frame. He ran a 7.80 60. Offensively- Sits deep in an even, spread stance. Hands head height with a flat barrel angle to start. Hitches hands on the way back but gets to a strong launch position with slight bat tip towards SS. Aggressive mid-belt leg kick; gains some ground forward with stride but yet behind contact. Short, accelerated swing that stays through the zone with an elevated one-hand finish. Line drive results that played better than his 71 MPH exit velocity. Has plenty of movement in swing but stays on time. Defensively- Controlled breakdown into the ball; handles himself well on the move, laterally and in. Flashed some quick releases with a smooth funnel from the glove immediately into his transfer and throw. Peak INF velocity was 68 MPH. Pitching- On the mound Romaguera starts from the far glove side; works up into a compact, mid-chest balance point. Infield like arm swing; extending throwing arm; works through a high ¾ arm slot. Finishes up and around front side, falling off towards the 1B side. FB sat 72-74 MPH, touching 75 MPH. CB featured rolling 1-to-7 action (big roundhouse) at 57-58 MPH. Flashed a change but needs more feel (60-63 MPH) as there was a change in his arm speed.
