5-foot-9, 173-pound athletic proportional build. Above average during batting practice, Rivera had an exit velocity of 90 mph. (70.4 mph bat speed average). (19.8 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced wide stance with a rhythmic load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is explosive, displays a short flat swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with tons of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Above average in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 85 mph; had a twitchy exchange, next level hands, and athletic footwork. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Had a short quick arm action and a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.97.
Exit Velocity: 90 mph
Arm Velocity: 85 mph
Sixty-Yard Dash: 6.97
Physical: Strong, athletic 5-foot-9, 172lb frame with feel in the actions. 7.47 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, slightly open stance as the hands started loose on the shoulder. Utilized a short lift and replace stride back to even, initiating the barrel through a slightly uphill, connected path into the hitting zone. An active lower half got involved early in the swing, leading the way with lower posture, creating above-average rotational scores during his round. Posted a mostly middle-pull approach with feel for the barrel, notching a T87 mph bat-exit velocity and 36% line drive rate (via Trackman). An additional 300 foot batted ball distance at his peak suggested doubles power in the repertoire (top of the order type skillset).
Defensively: The middle infielder stayed down to the ground with quick, strong lateral movements in either direction. Beat the ball to the spot and maintained momentum over the front-side towards the target, shuffling and releasing from a H ¾ slot in rhythm (87 mph, high intent, carry). Natural shortstop tendencies and made a few tough plays with ability to finish off throws on the backside.
