Padilla

Padilla stands at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds.  Ran a 8.11-60, which is an improvement from 2016.  Offensively- Righty with wide, even stance, hands held at ear height.  Foot lift to engage with compact swing, one arm extension.  Exit velocity measured at 80-mph, a 6-mph increase from last year.  Defensively- Smooth, comfortable approach to the ball with soft hands.  Fluid ball to hand transfer with short arm action.  Arm strength remained in the 70’s from the last event.  Padilla has a strong frame with potential for growth and would benefit from arm strengthening during the off season to increase his velocity across the diamond.  

Padilla checks in with a powerful 6-foot-2 215 pound frame. The corner infielder ran a 8.42 60. Offensively- Sets up with an even stance; hands just off his back shoulder with a short up-down stride. Plants weight against front leg with limited take back of the hands; lower half could support more aggression. Inside-out contact with some pop to the gaps. Additional separation up top will free himself up and allow for him to reach his power potential. Exit velocity peaked at 74 MPH. Defensively- Showed positive later actions  and was quiet on his feet. Works into the ball with good angles; soft hands with a clean exchange and a over the top release. Arm strength at 74 MPH with more in the tank. Framework is there at the plate and in the field for him to project into a next level corner guy.
