McAllister, a 2018 right-handed hitting catcher currently ranked as the 19th best catching prospect for the 2018 class, stands at 6-foot-0 and weighs 180 pounds, ran a 7.13 60. Offensively- Starts with a square balanced lower half with the hands even and in front of the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat moves from a parallel to 45-degree angle during the pre-pitch phase. Initiates the swing with a lift of the front foot, moderate stride towards the pitcher while the hands are loaded straight back staying slightly inside the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat gets perpendicular to the ground. During batting practice, hands stayed compact and direct to the ball as well as staying behind the rotation of the hips maintaining a well balanced approach to the ball. Drove the ball well from the pull side line to the opposite field gap. Recorded an exit velocity of 81 MPH on the day. Defensively- Used a square primary stance with a relaxed low target. Received the ball with a quiet relaxed hand, using a slight shift of weight for the ball on either corner. Throws to second showed good accuracy but carry and velocity could improve with an ability to keep the lead foot in a more direct line to the base. The transfer is clean and quick, from the chest, but the foot work is not connected with the transfer, as it is rushed and very little to no momentum is gained towards second base. With some minor adjustments, the arm velocity of 70 MPH as well as the best pop time of 2.07 should improve.
