Physical: Lengthy, projectable 6-foot-2, 185lb frame with some strength. 8.14 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Upright, slightly open stance with rhythm operating on the shoulder. Utilized a leg lift stride to initiate a quick, twitchy flat path into the hitting zone. Stayed over the rear hip, accelerating into impact with violent lower half rotation. Connected the hands with ability to produce consistent, hard contact through the middle of the field. Posted a T89 mph bat-exit velocity en route to a 55% line drive rate (via Trackman) with natural barrel control. Produced doubles power working up to a 329 foot batted ball.
Defensively: The first baseman moved around with adequate feel around the bag, staying at a narrow, upright posture and bending at the waist at the fielding window. Softer, accurate glove hand with some pocket awareness; released from a ¾ slot (accurate, 78 mph arm).
Pitching: RHP - Started from the stretch only off the far left side of the rubber; higher leg lift and stayed upright in his move down the slope, creating north/south tilt on the baseball for heavier, downward action from an OTT slot on a 75-77 mph FB. Mixed a fading 70-73 mph CH with good tunnel/deception, adding a short, lateral 63-65 mph SL in any count.
Physical: Strong, durable 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with feel for the hit tool. 8.19 runner int he 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Narrow, slightly open and upright stance with the hands flat on the shoulder; utilized a leg lift stride in order to initiate the bat head through a short, flat and horizontal path into the hitting zone. Recorded an 88 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball with tons of whip through contact; drove the ball through the middle of the field with loft present in approach (46% fly ball rate). A 23 mph max hand speed according to Blast Motion points to some of the quickness he possesses in the box.
Defensively: The primary first baseman showed off adequate footwork while arriving on time from a wide base at the fielding window, soft glove hand worked out in front off the toes and funneled inward at the belt line, accurate 78 mph arm strength from a long, high ¾ slot.
At the plate, the right handed hitter stands in the box in a slightly open stance. Works off a short stride towards the pitcher before throwing the hands into the hitting zone. The 2022 graduate displayed hard contact to the middle and opposite part of the field. Defensively, the infielder worked out at first. Mort will sit back and wait for the baseball. Feels the baseball slightly off center and takes his time to gather himself when making throws around the infield. On the mound, the right handed pitcher displayed a balanced repeatable delivery. Works mainly from the left side of the rubber. Mort showed feel for a three pitch mix around the zone.
