Athletic frame with wide, proportional build and some projection left. 6-foot-2, 175-pounds. Offensively – Wide, balanced set-up. Feet square to pitcher with knee bend in stance. Short, quick stride. Hands stay tight to the body and work inside of the ball. Compact swing. Kept ball in middle of the field during BP. Level, 2-handed finish. Defensively – Quick, aggressive footwork in the OF. Stays balanced when tracking the ball. Received ball on glove side before funneling into throwing motion. Short arm action with high, over the top release. Catching – Big target behind the dish. Upright posture with low hips in the crouch. Sets feet toward 2B quickly while getting into throws. High exchange with quick arm action. Backside could get thru the ball more consistently. Pitching – Simple mechanics, repeatable delivery. Tempo varies a bit throughout throwing motion. Cross action stride. Stays tall on backside. Short, quick arm path with high ¾ release. Showed quality hand speed out front at release. Attacked the zone with 2 pitch mix
Northern NY Preview (July 11, 2018)
Athletic build at 6-foot-2 175 pounds; the RHP/3B ran a 7.74 60 and a 4.87 home-to-1B. Offensively- Sets up in a deep crouch with feet outside the shoulders; short take back and stride with some lift in his swing. Exit velocity was 73 MPH. Additional lower half effort will help with bat speed/power. Defensively- Low to the ground setup at 3B; stays on the balls of his feet with a quick first step; hands get a bit under the body but still adequate with release. Showed lateral range; arm strength peaked at 70 MPH across the diamond but there's more there as indicated by his efforts on the mound. Pitching- Sets up to the far glove side of the rubber after his pivot; belt high leg drive with a long arm action that works through a high 3/4 slot. FB ranges 77-78 MPH, touching 79 MPH with some downward tilt. Flashed a sharp 12-6 CB at 63-66 MPH. Has some feel on the bump with athleticism.
