Fall 2017
Fast twitch actions with a strong arm that can occasionally get away from him. Clean, line drive approach in the box.
Team Citius Workout
De La Cruz shows a lean athletic frame with the ability for growth. Ran a 7.40 – 60. Offensively- Sets up square to the pitcher with his feet shoulder width apart. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso with his hands held just above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch his trigger is a knee raise in to stride out while his hands move back slightly into a good hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing the hips and getting whole frame involved with the process of the swing. Has quick hands into the hitting zone with good upward lift barrel action throughout into a high one handed finish. Demonstrated gap and line drive ability from with an occasional inside-out swing recording an exit velocity of 88 MPH. Defensively- Athletic middle infield actions; fields with glove side foot back, almost side-saddle at times. Smooth fielding mechanics getting the ball into the chest with a fluid transition into the throwing hand. Uses an infielders arm swing with an aggressive approach towards his target on his throws. Continuous actions from start to finish will help fluidity; above average arm at 90 MPH across the diamond.
April 2018
Athletic frame; fast twitch actions up the middle with above average arm (up to 90 MPH across the diamond in past). The RHH had 2 walks and a go-ahead RBI single; short compact stroke, stays behind the ball.
