Alex Laird: SS/2B, (2023) Glen Oak, OH. Bowling Green State Commit, 6-foot-2, 170-pound. At the plate, Laird had a max exit velocity of 85 mph. (63.4 mph bat speed average). (20.6 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced quiet stance with a compact load, then used a controlled quick stride. Has quick bat speed, simple loose swing plane and high finish. Solid in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 90 mph; had soft hands, a natural exchange, and consistent footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a high ¾ slot and a loose arm action. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.68.

Started in an athletic open stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. He barreled up multiple balls. Line drive approach. Hit:Smooth mover in the box with a level, compact stroke. Quicker than he is physical with the bat but very early in his development. Impressive barrel accuracy, squaring up everything in BP.

Field: Athletic look to him. Actions are there and he has feel for his body. Appears to be an above average defender for class.
