Starts in an open athletic stance with a controlled smooth load, then uses a short quick stride. Had an upward swing plane, above average bat speed and high finish. He found some barrels with loud contact. Line drive approach. Athletic capable from the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 76 mph; has athletic choppy feet, a quick twitchy exchange, and sure firm hands. Laterally, movements were quick and fielded the ball to the side. (Max spin ; Avg ).
Braden Upp: OF/C, (2024) Walnut Hills, OH. 5-foot-9, 155-pound. In the box, Upp had a max exit velocity of 81 mph. (56.5 mph bat speed average). (19.2 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced stance with a rhythmic load, then uses a short quick stride. Bat speed was quick efficient, showed a short simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls. Line drive approach. Behind the plate, he recorded a position velocity of 68 mph during throw downs. Athletic while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 67 mph; had athletic aggressive footwork, and a quick fluid exchange. Solid from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 74 mph; showed sure hands, a quick exchange, and consistent feet. When fielding he gathers the ball out front. While catching, his best position velocity throwing to second was registered at 68 mph; produced pop times of 2.09-2.17. Throws from a high ¾ slot.
