Fain worked out in both the infield and outfield. In the outfield he was very mechanically sound. Actions were smooth too and through the baseball. Arm has looseness to it, indicating he may have more velocity left in the tank. Presently shows 76 mph arm strength to home plate. In the infield he plays low and uses direct footwork. Hands are soft and he looks to be sure-handed. Transfer skills are smooth and he threw with 71 mph arm strength across the diamond. At the plate he starts in a strong, slightly open setup before getting into his pre launch movements. Incorporates a toe turn and bat tip to his loading sequence. Bat travels on a slightly downhill plane to the baseball showing noticeable barrel whip into contact. Strength looks to be an above average tool as he gets through contact well. A line drive type guy. Was up to 84 mph off the tee and ran an 8.02 60-yard dash.
7/6/16
5-foot-8, 155-pound average body frame. Right-handed hitter starts his swing from a slightly open stance, getting himself squared back up to even before he swings. Hands start in the middle of his body and uses a fluid load to his back shoulder. Swings with a level bat path through the zone, while showing the ability to use both sides of the field during his round of batting practice. Reached a top exit velocity of 72 mph and ran a 7.78 60-yard dash. In the infield he needs to do a better job fielding through the baseball gaining momentum to first base. Throws with a short arm action into a high ¾ slot with 70 mph arm strength.
