Brenden Garula: LHP/OF, (2022) Mason, OH. 6-foot, 176-pound projectable frame. During batting practice, Garula displayed an exit velocity of 95 mph, Top 3 EV at the showcase. Began in a tall balanced stance with a smooth quick load, then used a leg kick. Bat speed was above average, and had a level rotational swing plane. Projectable in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 87 mph; had a fluid exchange, smooth quick footwork, and soft hands. Fields the ball one hand, movements laterally were athletic. Showed a very quick arm action. On the mound, using a quick arm action he showed quick arm speed from a ¾ arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher and shows some effort. Showed an athletic balance point. Produced a fastball that came in at 86-88 mph; has arm side command and running action. Has plus action on his 1/7 curveball (72-74). His changeup (79-80) had arm side command and fading action.
Delivery Notes: A dynamic delivery that starts off really well with the lower half landing slightly close with a ¾ arm action but the follow through needs some cleaning up. An arm to watch develop.
Fastball: 79-82mph with a 1700-1900rpm spin rate with some arm side run.
Curveball: 68-71mph with a 1800-2000rpm spin rate with 1/7 movement. CB has chance to be knee buckler
Changeup: 66-67mph Parachute action to CH
2/22/20 Position Player
Hit: Athletic wide stance with powerful swing. Presents back shoulder tilt allowing him to lift the ball to deep parts of the field.
Power: 93mph exit velo with a max distance of 319 feet.
Offensive Projection: Gap to gap top half of the lineup hitter.
Field: Smooth fluid footwork attacking the ball while staying down through the throw. Takes nice quick routes to the ball allowing him to
have a plus range.
Throw: 83mph outfield velo.
Defensive Projection: CF.
